Bartendo @ The 2017 Riverside WineFest
The 3rd annual Riverside WineFest is an annual celebration that last all week with wine tastings paired with local foods. Wine lovers attend to get to know the local shops, eateries and community spaces in the Riverside area. Bartendo attended the signature Community Riverside Wine Expo this past weekend hosted at The Ralph Thornton Centre. Here is a list of some of the wineries we experienced and where you can get a bottle too!
This white wine is a blend of Chardonnay, Riesling and Vidal. Displaying an aroma of fruit, pineapple and banana are the main flavours with a hint of pear.
Great for any occasion, pair with poultry, light pastas or seafood.
This blend of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon combines aromas of cherry, cassis and plum and are rounded by note of toasted oak, vanilla and hints of caramel.
Paired best with grilled red meats, Portobello mushrooms, lamb or strong cheeses
June’s Vineyard Riesling
Crisp and cool, this Riesling is packed with exotic fruit including ripe yellow plum, apple and pineapple. With the right balance of fresh and fine acidity, this flavourful glass is perfect alone, chilled or served with dinner.
Paired best with chicken, fish, and mild to medium cheeses.
Made from Vidal and Pinot Gris grapes, this wine is fruity and crisp with every sip. Clean and bright, it as an easy drinking wine meant to be easy to pair.
Paired best with pasta dishes, pork and grilled meats.
This chardonnay is almost un-oaked as it was finished in stainless steel. The versatile acidity levels and fruity taste is what makes it work well with a number of dishes.
Paired best with seafood, creamy pastas and herbs with chicken.
2014 Dog House Red
This deep red wine surprises you with fruit flavours of sweet plum, black cherry, and vanilla mixed with dark berry aromas.
Paired best with pizza, wings, eggplant and steak.
2013 Pinot Grigio
Floral and tropical, this smooth tasting wine has an acidic start with a rounded finish.
Paired best with seafood, light pastas, roasted pork and chicken dishes.
Besides the wine, we were pleased to be treated to some cheese, fruits, chocolates and additional liquors! We were thankful to Sugar Loaf Bakery and Toronto Food Tours for the delicious goods to accompany us along our wine-tasting adventure.
Crimson Rye Whiskey
This rare 100% whiskey had a bite unique to others. Winning a double gold medal at the Fifty Best Canadian Whisky, it had the perfect balance of aromatic honeysuckle and beeswax with a flavour of dried figs, anise and fresh cut grass.
Still’s Whisper Vodka
Using 100% Ontario wheat at their farm-based distillery, this vodka is twice distilled to offer a truly unique flavour and quality.
Juniper’s Wit Gin
On it’s own, or in a cocktail, this gin is handcrafted with their blend of herbs and botanicals including locally sourced juniper, lavender, and hops.
